The South London Sarbojonin Puja started twenty-eight years ago.
The original venue was the Battersea Town Hall. The main objective was to
provide an opportunity for the people living in the South West London and the
surrounding areas to worship our Goddess Durga. Since that time, the original
founders of the Durga Puja have bequeathed the responsibility of its annual
organisation to the current Puja Committee, still known as the South London
Sarbojonin Puja Committee. The Sarbojanin means ‘for all people’.
The Puja has now become an important cultural and religious
event annually, open to all people and faiths locally and neighbouring
boroughs.
We would therefore like to welcome all on this auspicious
occasion to the South London Durga Puja, to enjoy the atmosphere and sample what
is simply a celebration of life from India.
